The Assessor Skill Set (TAESS00019) provides the necessary skills and knowledge for people to conduct assessment and operate without supervision in the vocational education and training (VET) sector, in accordance with theStandards for RTOs. In this Skill Set, participants will analyse and use nationally recognised training products as the basis for planning, preparing for and conducting competency-based assessment.

Modes of Delivery

Course Structure

There are three (3) units of competency in the Assessor Skill Set:

  • TAEASS412 Assess competence
  • TAEASS413 Participate in assessment validation
  • TAEDES411 Use nationally recognised training products to meet vocational needs

These units provide credit towards the TAE40122 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment


The assessment in this qualification involves a variety of workbook activities, practical tasks, presentations, reflective tasks and project work. Participants are supported with regular mentoring and tutorial options throughout their journey.
