Diploma of Vocational Education and Training
The Diploma of Vocational Education and Training (TAE50111) provides a pathway within the VET industry to build training and assessment capability within Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) and other providers of training. It provides a professional development framework to build and extend the skills and knowledge of those with experience in training and assessment and the entry level qualification, TAE40110 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment.
The Diploma of Vocational Education and Training supersedes the Diploma of Training and Assessment (TAA50104) and reflects the contemporary roles of experienced practitioners delivering training and assessment services within Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) and other providers of training that work within the vocational education and training (VET) sector.
Working in VET has changed dramatically over the past decade, with the role of a VET practitioner being the subject of much debate, research and published material. There is no argument that the roles and functions of RTOs have multiplied. VET practitioners are now key workers in the knowledge economy and must be competent in facilitating the creation, transmission and acquisition of knowledge. Therefore, the Diploma of Vocational Education and Training represents an expression of achievement that reflects excellence in performance in line with the high standards desired in the VET workforce. It is intended that this qualification becomes the qualification of choice for those wishing to develop their VET career.

Diploma of Training Design and Development
The Diploma of Training Design and Development (TAE50211) is a new qualification that reflects the roles of training developers and instructional designers who are responsible for analysing training needs and designing training solutions and products. This qualification will benefit those who design programs to meet workplace capability requirements or evaluate the effectiveness of training programs. They may have a role in providing guidance and advice to trainers and assessors, promoting innovative practices, such as e-learning, and in researching and incorporating best practice in training and assessment into training programs and products. Therefore, the Diploma of Training Design and Development represents an expression of achievement that reflects the robustness of training design required to maintain high standards desired in the VET workforce. This qualification provides experienced training developers with a pathway to extend their VET careers..
